Abstract
Fetal tumors are rare, but can be prenatally detected and diagnosed with ultrasonography. The prognosis of fetal tumor is related to the location, the size and the histologic type of the tumor. Therefore, prenatal diagnosis for fetal tumors helps the perinatal management strategies and the improvement of neonatal outcome. Although various histologic mass can be developed around fetal neck, ectopic lung mass has never been reported. So, we describe a case of fetus at 19 weeks of gestation presenting upper chest wall mass. On ultrasonography study, the mass showed mixed solid and macrocystic mass measuring 2.5¡¿2.0 cm on upper chest wall, which connected to intrathoracic mass with vascular pedicle. We suspected fetal tumor as teratoma or hemangioma, but it was postnatally confirmed as fetal lung tissue heterotopia by pathologic examination. We consider the mass as unusual pulmonary sequestration and report with a brief review of the literatures.
